Presidente Obama,

RICORDANDO AL MONDO LA PROMESSA DI OBAMA: 14 SETTEMBRE 2011, FINE DELL'EMBARGO!

Il mese scorso Obama ha dichiarato che gli Stati Uniti toglieranno l'embargo a Cuba il prossimo 14 di settembre 2011. Alla buon ora! Spero solo che Fidel Castro possa vedere questo momento storico prima di morire. Ma ammesso che cio' sia vero, perchè poi non sarebbe la prima volta che Obama fa marcia indietro su certi temi, posticipando la data in ragione di convenienze politiche interne, chi risarcirà l'isola caraibica e i suoi abitanti per gli oltre 40 anni di privazioni e sofferenze dovuti in massima parte all'isolamento commerciale? Chi pagherà per l'inutile e gratuito sadismo politico internazionale contro Cuba? Nessuno ovviamente. Si dirà che se la sono cercata, che in fondo è stata una loro scelta, il cui unico responsabile è la famiglia Castro, che non ha voluto calare le braghe davanti al ricatto del gigante statunitense, si dirà che hanno scelto liberamente di vivere nella miseria socialista invece di scegliere la ricchezza che sarebbe loro venuta svendendo i propri ideali di libertà e indipendenza...Chi plaudira' al contrario, mi piacerebbe vederlo, all'eroismo di questo popolo e del suo leader maximo che hanno conservato la propria dignità in mezzo a un mondo di ladri, venduti e opportunisti? Spero vivamente che Obama celebri l'evento con tutti i festeggiamenti del caso, lui che, nonostante tutto, dopo Kennedy forse è stato il presidente americano che più si è dichiarato a favore della risoluzione del nodo cubano, anche se c'è da dire che finora la sua politica in proposito non ha, di fatto, ancora sortito apprezzabili risultati. Si, proprio lui, Obama potrebbe, e dovrebbe, essere la persona giusta per svelare al mondo l'eroismo di Cuba, porgendo, e perchè no, anche delle scuse ufficiali USA al popolo cubano, facendolo di fronte alle televisioni di tutto il mondo. Sarebbe una bella cosa, ancorchè dovuta, un bel gesto che giustificherebbe la fiducia che molti nel mondo hanno riposto nel leader americano all'indomani del suo insediamento alla Casa Bianca.


La stessa cosa dovrebbero fare altri paesi nel mondo, primi fra tutti quelli dell'America Latina, che sicuramente festeggieranno l'evento, in testa a tutti il Venezuela di Chavez...E in quanto ai governi europei? Che dire, beh, diciamolo francamente, cosa ci si puo' aspettare da un Europa che ultimamente ha visto aumentare il consenso della destra, specie nei paesi dal tenore di vita più alto come Austria, Svezia, Svizzera, Francia, Italia...Paesi tanto prima prosperosi quanto ora prostrati dalla più grande crisi economica dal dopoguerra...Viene da pensare che è proprio vero che quando si è in difficoltà gli unici ad aiutarti spesso sono proprio quelli che stanno o sono stati male come te, e che quindi ti possono capire. Coraggio anche e te, vecchia Europa!

Embargo ‘elettorale’ contro Cuba?

E’ notizia dell’altro giorno che il Presidente Obama ha deciso di continuare con il blocco economico, commerciale e finanziario contro Cuba fino al 14 settembre 2011.

L’embargo americano contro Cuba, che dura da quasi mezzo secolo, è che ha comportato secondo alcune stime abbastanza attendibili danni per più di 100 miliardi di dollari, oltre che a danneggiare pesantemente lo sviluppo produttivo ed economico con ricadute pesantissime dal punto di vista sociale , nella vita di tutti i giorni si è tradotto nella mancanza di carta nelle scuole, di medicinali, materiale sanitario , apparecchiature mediche e petrolio attraverso il quale garantire una sufficiente produzione alimentare (es. latte, carne, cereali, ecc…).

Credo che valga la pena ricordare che, ogni anno a partire dal 1992, Assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite ha condannato l’embargo contro Cuba in quanto violazione del diritto internazionale. L’ultima volta è accaduto il 28 ottobre 2009, con 187 voti favorevoli, 3 contrari (USA, Israele e Palau) e 2 astensioni (Micronesia e Isole Marshall).

Dato che Obama nel 2008 ha vinto in Florida, e persino a Miami, senza l’aiuto (come accadde per Bush jr., ma anche per Clinton), dei gruppi di destra della Fondazione cubano-americana di Miami, non è che poteva rompere questa continuità, in linea con la distensione e le aperture che vi sono state in questo periodo sia attraverso l’intervento diplomatico della Santa Sede e del Governo spagnolo?

Come ha scritto Gianni Minà, esprimendo la sua opinione su un’altro tema (“L’odissea dei cinque cubani che smascherarono il terrorismo Usa” ), che ha suscitato qualche dibattito: “Sarebbe semplice per lui (Obama, NdR) dimostrare che la politica estera del suo governo non è condizionata dai terroristi della Fondazione cubano-americana di Miami” (681 attentati , 3478 persone assassinate e 2000 feriti – solo negli ultimi anni).



Più che “uno sforzo per aiutare i cubani nel loro desiderio di determinare liberamente il futuro del loro Paese”, come spesso amano ricordare i funzionari USA interpellati sull’embargo, la decisione di Obama di proseguire con la politica estera dei suoi predecessori potrebbe sembrare il tentativo di recuperare i voti di cui in questo momento ha disperatamente bisogno in vista delle elezioni di Middle Term (novembre).
Se così fosse, per cinico calcolo elettorale, avrebbero buona luce tutti coloro che hanno criticato il Presidente americano per la sua ambiguità, dando una volta un colpo alla botte e una volta un colpo al cerchio. Linea che nel tempo ha comportato delle la defezione di molti che nel 2008 sperando in un maggiore cambiamento.

Sul tema rapporti con Cuba, un sondaggio della CNN/Opinion Reseach Corporation effettuato nell’aprile 2009 – durante i primi 100 giorni - evidenziava che il 64% degli americani considerava necessario togliere le limitazioni di viaggio verso Cuba, e il 71% era favorevole alla ripresa di rapporti diplomatici, con la consapevolezza probabilmente che nel frattempo 15 Paesi Americani avevano già provveduto a normalizzare le proprie relazioni con Cuba.

Vale anche la pena sottolineare, come ricorda l’associazione ITALIA-CUBA, che lo Stato caraibico è l’unico paese al mondo ancora soggetto alle sanzioni della Legge contro il Commercio con il Nemico, dopo che nel 2008 l’amministrazione di George W. Bush aveva optato per non rinnovare l’applicazione di tali misure alla Corea del Nord.

Lettera aperta al Presidente Obama

Prima di tutto un cordiale saluto a tutti. Oggi sono qui per chiedere una risposta al Presidente Barack Obama.

Presidente Obama, Lei che è così preoccupato per i prigionieri politici cubani a Cuba, per le dame bianche, quelle donne coraggiose come le descrive Lei, perché non risponde alla domanda che Le ha fatto il nostro Presidente Raul Castro? Perché non fa niente per quei vermi che gridano libertà? Poiché è nelle Sue mani la libertà di questi schifosi che Lei sostiene a Cuba...E come dice Raul, se proprio li vuole, perché non ci restituisce i 5 eroi cubani da voi imprigionati? Il popolo cubano Le darà volentieri in cambio i Suoi vermi, quelli che Lei chiama prigionieri politici, rinchiusi nelle patrie galere cubane, e che in realtà sono solo dei ladri e delinquenti comuni, traditori prezzolati senza dignità al soldo dei nemici di Cuba, dei gansters americani e della mafia cubana di Miami. O non sarà che non sono loro che Lei vuole veramente ma la terra cubana? Non quei vermi che gridano libertà, non quelle che Lei chiama dame bianche, che di dame non tengono neanche le scarpe. Io non le chiamerei dame bianche ma piuttosto casalinghe annoiate che vendono la loro dignità per pochi danari…

Presidente Obama, perché Lei non si preoccupa piuttosto per tutti gli americani poveri che esistono nel suo grande paese? Perché Lei non vede il male che fate nei paesi poveri del mondo prima di giudicarci? Perché non vede la guerra, dove tanti soldati americani perdono la vita per l’ennesimo pozzo di petrolio conquistato dalla strategia monopolistica delle multinazionali dell’oro nero e delle lobbies americane che le rappresentano? E Lei perché, Signor Presidente, non toglie l’embargo a Cuba? Non Le sembrano sufficienti 47 anni o anche Lei aspetta ancora la capitolazione per fame di quest’isola meravigliosa per poterla trasformare nel paradiso turistico di americani ricchi e opulenti, come era negli anni ’40? Se così, sappia che la dignità del popolo cubano, abituato a soffrire, si è addirittura rinforzata in questi anni e che non si piegherà mai! E’ ipocrita parlare di libertà in casa d’altri quando voi americani per primi non ce l’avete questa libertà (o meglio, da voi ce l’hanno solo i ricchi!). E neanche Lei, Signor Obama, non mi sembra affatto libero.
Presidente, Lei che parla di libertà, è sicuro di sapere veramente cosa significa questa parola? Credo che Lei debba farsi un esame di coscienza prima di parlare di libertà, dovrebbe prima liberarsi dal condizionamento di tanti anni di storia americana dove di libertà vera ce n’è stata ben poca e intendo quel genere di libertà che non può essere disgiunta dalla giustizia sociale e dalla pace. Se crede, come tanti americani, che con i soldi si possa comprare tutto, si ricordi che la morale di un paese non si compra, non tutti siamo come Yoani Sanchez per fortuna! Lei che è premio Nobel per la pace, Signor Presidente, sa che Le dico: mi ha deluso, pensavo che fosse più intelligente. Invece mi accorgo che è un arrogante.
Signor Presidente, io non vendo il mio paese per un pugno di dollari, non racconto bugie per mettere in ridicolo la mia Patria, un paese la cui gente ha tanto sofferto e le cui difficoltà hanno reso unito e solidale. Io amo Cuba fedelmente per come è e non la vorrei diversa, non voglio che cambi, e non voglio un Presidente svergognato. Cuba è libera e sempre lo sarà al costo di versare sangue!
Io Le dico Signor Presidente, stia lontano da Cuba, Cuba non sarà mai un altro stato americano o un'altra Porto Rico! Fatevi i fatti vostri e smettetela di orchestrare campagne contro Cuba, se è vero che Lei è un vero uomo! Cuba non appartiene alla sua filosofia dell’ “Yes we can”.
Io spero, Signor Presidente Obama, che pensi bene quando parla di Cuba, perché Cuba non è sola, ha al suo fianco molti nel mondo, tutti coloro, uomini e donne libere, che ancora apprezzano il valore della dignità e libertà di un popolo.
